 FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Why do you need a $2,000 deposit to secure our position ?

The hotels we use in Europe are the finest available and to secure them we must prepay for our rooms as well as supply them with a definite room count.

Is there any advantage to sending in my deposit early ?

Absolutely. Porsche selection is based on the order in which we received your deposit so it is advisable to register early so you are one of the first to choose your 911.

Is the deposit refundable ?

Your deposit is fully refundable up until 100 days prior to departure.

What kind of Porsche will I be driving ?

All the Porsche's are the latest model 911 Carrera's. You have exclusive use of the Porsche for the entire ten days and 1800 free km's. Each of our tours are approx 1400 - 1600 km's which gives you extra km's for additional sightseeing.

Can I drive in Europe with my normal license ?

In Germany it is possible to drive with your normal license but Austria and Switzerland require an International Drivers Permit. These are available at any AAA office for a small fee even without a membership.

Do we have to stay in a group or drive behind a tour guide ?

You do not have to stay together as a group but you can if you want to. All the Porsche's have the latest onboard  touch screen navigation systems which are pre-programmed to guide you to the next destination, so there is no need to be led. Our tours are designed to be flexible and unrestrictive. In between hotels we give you the opportunity to see the things that you want to see without having to wait on anyone else. The main times we are together as a group is when we have a prearranged tour of the factory, museum or when we have dinner together in the evening.

How fast can I drive the Porsche ?

Most of our driving is in Germany on the Autobahns which have unrestricted sections that allow you to drive the Porsche at very high speeds. Depending on traffic conditions the average speed is approx 180 kph with the occasional run up to 280 kph. In Switzerland and Austria the speed limit is 120 kph which is strictly enforced.

Why isn't gas included ?

The only reason gas is not included is that it would take away the flexibility of our tour and force everyone to travel in a group. The average cost of gas for our entire tour is only 300 euro ( Approx $450 )

Why is there an extra charge for a single ?

The extra charge for a single is to cover the cost of the Porsche for your individual use , whereas a couple splits this cost between them. Also in Europe there is very little price difference between a single room and a double room.

Does the price include the airfare ?

We have people joining us from all over the world so the airfare is not included in the price. Everyone makes their own way, via the airline of their choice, to Frankfurt where the tour starts and finishes. Most people use the free miles they have accumulated to purchase their airline tickets. A search engine we use on a regular basis to find the best flights is  www.sidestep.com

Most of the latest cell phones which are tri-band or quad-band will work in Europe. Please contact your cell phone carrier for details on using your phone overseas.

What is the weather like ?

What is the dress code for the tour ?

The dress code for our tours is casual with the occasional formal dinner. When driving around Europe we want you to be as comfortable as possible. We have our own private rooms for dinners so we can dress as casual as we like however it is advisable to bring at least one formal outfit. A suit and tie is not necessary.

How much luggage should I bring ?

It is really nice to travel light, especially when you are staying at several hotels.  We normally bring one carry on each, which eliminates the possibility of lost luggage and the need to wait for our bags.
